Aftercare
Immediate Care
Do not shampoo, wet or exercise to the point of being very sweaty for 48 hours after application, as the bonds of your extensions need time to set/cure.
Leave some extra time for styling as you are now working with extra volume and longer hair.Β
Always Pre-Book your extension follows up & maintenance appointments.
General Care
To ensure that you arenβt pulling on your extensions we recommend the use of a specialized extension brush or long bristled tangle teaser. We also have some available for purchase.
Brush your hair often! Minimum 2-3x per day. This is a great way to keep your extensions looking beautiful and tangle free!
When brushing your hair, make sure to separate the strands of hair at the roots to ensure your hair does not tangle.
*Ensure you are avoiding all products containing heavy proteins/silicone and sulphates. These will weaken the bonds of your extensions and may cause them to fall out prematurely.
We recommend not to use extremely hot water (try to keep it warm) when washing your hair. When applying shampoo, donβt rub the product into your scalp, gently stroke the shampoo through your hair from the root to the tip of your hair. Please try to avoid extreme heat (saunas, etc) if using tape ins or keratin extensions.
Apply a good moisturizing conditioner to your hair, avoid the roots and bonds of your extensions. We recommend that you use a deep-conditioning treatment to help extend the life of your extension every other few washes.
Ensure that you are thoroughly rinsing all of the shampoo and conditioner out of your hair, with extensions you need to rinse extra well to ensure there is no product buildup around the bonds.
Caution with SUNSCREEN! Use Mineral-Based sunscreen.
Avoid sunscreens which contain Avobenzone and Octocrylene. These can stain your hair.
*For Tape-In Extensions
Be sure you are pressing your extension panels together when you are blow drying. This will reaffirm the bond each time you are drying. Power dry panels and scalp area before applying tension with a brush.
Sleeping
Sleeping with a silk pillowcase is a great way to prolong your extensions. It also feels great and helps prevent your hair from tangling while asleep.
When going to bed ensure you NEVER sleep with wet hair. Your hair should be dry before going to bed. A good habit is tying your hair up in a loose braid or ponytail before going to sleep to keep hair tangle free while sleeping.
Swimming with Extensions
Chlorine/salt water is never friendly for our hair, we donβt recommend getting your hair wet in in the ocean/pool. If entering a pool or salt water, we recommend soaking your hair with fresh water & to apply a leave-in conditioner from the mid to the ends. Put hair in a ponytail. Rinse & shampoo as soon as possible. No braids when swimming.
Styling your extensions
Always keep heat away from your extension bonds, especially for tape-in extensions. ALWAYS use thermal protection spray on your hair when using any heat tools near your hair. This is a good habit to keep your extensions in pristine condition. Heat is harmful to the overall longevity and look of your hair.
